A friend had asked me if I have visited Michael's recently and if so did I happen to see any of the new Fairy Garden pieces they have out for spring. While out of town yesterday, I made sure I took a walk through the fairy aisle and recorded what I found.
There is so much new I didn't even know where to look first. Houses for so many different themes filled the shelves. Before Fairy Gardening became so popular you were lucky to find a small display out in stores and most of those pieces were of garden gnomes only. Not any more. Pick a theme you love and you will find it miniaturized.
At the beginning of the aisle you see houses, then cottages, some castles...to match up with the knights theme...and gnome theme, haunted forests and wizards...oh it's all so cute.
Keep going further and you see gardening pieces and Valentines Day themed pieces. Perfect to grab a few of those now!
Easter themed bunnies and chicks and lambs fill the wall and you can't choose only one- I need them all! The hollowed out eggs are a great piece to fill and gift in an Easter basket to start someone else on this fun journey of the little's.
Whatever your style of decorating, you can find a house to build upon. Need the trays to hold them? They have them. Rocks, trees, greenery? Got it.
My advice is this. Take your time and look at it all first. I know it's so hard to resist! As of today, these aren't on sale yet so those online coupons will sure help out on the larger ( house, tray ) items. And keep in mind, Anything can become a fairy garden so you don't even need a house. You don't need to really get everything at once. It is expensive...as you can see by the price tags on the pieces. What I do is grab those few things I want that I think others will too and will get sold out quickly. Then I watch for good sales and grab a piece or two. Keep an eye on the clearance aisles. A piece on clearance from a season past will usually find a home somewhere in your current season. ( except for a Halloween Dracula, of course ha ha ). I found a tub of stones cleared out for pennies and I use those throughout all of my home decor at times.
I purchased the Kissing Cherubs, The Enjoy the Little Things sign and the mini...and I mean mini bottles shown above. I used two coupons. The mailer I received that expires tomorrow for 50% off one regular priced item...used on the cherubs. And the online 40% off one regular priced item on the Enjoy sign. I also grabbed a $1 pouch of Valentine Sprinkles for my Faux Whip ( when I get time to make it).
So, are you a Fairy Garden(er) too? What is your favorite theme you have done?
