Life Writings | Michael's Craft Store Visit - Fairy Garden Releases - January 2019

A friend had asked me if I have visited Michael's recently and if so did I happen to see any of the new Fairy Garden pieces they have out for spring.  While out of town yesterday, I made sure I took a walk through the fairy aisle and recorded what I found.

There is so much new I didn't even know where to look first.  Houses for so many different themes filled the shelves.  Before Fairy Gardening became so popular you were lucky to find a small display out in stores and most of those pieces were of garden gnomes only.  Not any more. Pick a theme you love and you will find it miniaturized.

At the beginning of the aisle you see houses, then cottages, some castles...to match up with the knights theme...and gnome theme, haunted forests and wizards...oh it's all so cute.

Keep going further and you see gardening pieces and Valentines Day themed pieces. Perfect to grab a few of those now!

Easter themed bunnies and chicks and lambs fill the wall and you can't choose only one- I need them all! The hollowed out eggs are a great piece to fill and gift in an Easter basket to start someone else on this fun journey of the little's.

Whatever your style of decorating, you can find a house to build upon.  Need the trays to hold them? They have them.  Rocks, trees, greenery?  Got it.

My advice is this.  Take your time and look at it all first.  I know it's so hard to resist!   As of today, these aren't on sale yet so those online coupons will sure help out on the larger ( house, tray ) items. And keep in mind, Anything can become a fairy garden so you don't even need a house.  You don't need to really get everything at once.  It is expensive...as you can see by the price tags on the pieces.  What I do is grab those few things I want that I think others will too and will get sold out quickly.  Then I watch for good sales and grab a piece or two.  Keep an eye on the clearance aisles.  A piece on clearance from a season past will usually find a home somewhere in your current season. ( except for a Halloween Dracula, of course ha ha ). I found a tub of stones cleared out for pennies and I use those throughout all of my home decor at times.

I purchased the Kissing Cherubs, The Enjoy the Little Things sign and the mini...and I mean mini bottles shown above.  I used two coupons.  The mailer I received that expires tomorrow for 50% off one regular priced item...used on the cherubs. And the online 40% off one regular priced item on the Enjoy sign.  I also grabbed a $1 pouch of Valentine Sprinkles for my Faux Whip ( when I get time to make it).

So, are you a Fairy Garden(er) too?  What is your favorite theme you have done?

Dreaming of Spring in the heart of Winter

Dreaming of Spring in the heart of Winter

We are in for a ton of snow over the next few days so seeing this bit of spring color was a great pick me up.  I will be sure to think of these beautiful flowers as I am shoveling a foot of snow later this weekend.

Life Writing's | On Being Connected

I have been watching my insights this week on my Face Book postings and there have been two that were making me shake my head at the numbers they are showing. Now I don't base my postings on what the numbers will show. The numbers have no part in what I share, and I have posted for years without noticing there even were numbers to look at. Go figure.

Life Writing's | Bath and Body Works Single Coverage

I saw a video that has been making its way around social media since Friday and to say that it is disturbing is an understatement. I just need to write out my thoughts because it reminds me of something that has bothered me for a long time.

Life Writing's | Spilling the Tea on a Cold Fall Evening

It has been a day.  One I probably should end by watching TV and decompressing, quietly, with only the green glow from my desk lamp and the flickers of light from the muted TV.  But...

Life Writing | A Day in the Pumpkin Patch

Perhaps silly of me to say, I know...I understand, but this is a hard week for us with Friday marking another years anniversary of losing our Angeline and this visit to our favorite farm's pumpkin patch and being out and around all of this it ...renewed my soul....just a smidge.   It does not get easier - Look at that face, so full of life... But I try to still do those things we all did together as a family. ( The photo above was her last pumpkin patch visit ).

I walked beneath the bluest sky dappled with puffy, white clouds feeling the suns warmth on my face...through rows and rows of orange wonder with a fall chill in the air.

It was wonderful. It was a good day.

Life Writings | Like a Kid in a Candy Store

One of my favorite places to visit while out at the mall, Lolli -n- Pops Candy and Confections store. Also one of the prettiest stores in the mall with the best in-store marketing and packaging. Everything your sweet tooth can want and more, this little place has it all. My favorites are from the retro candy section... that sweet candy from when I ...

HomeWorx Candles by Harry Slatkin | Review | Deliciously Apple

Think of Apple Picking season when the apples are still warm from the sun on the tree and you reach up and take it off and bite into it before washing it. The sweetness and the tart perfection hits you like nothing you experience from a store bought fruit.
