Bath & Body Works | New Coupon Policy Effective February 24, 2020 Regarding The Three Day Grace Period

It was a busy information sort of day today...with some bits of information not being so fun to hear.  Here's what I know, and a few thoughts on it all.Earlier today I was told a few different things and while I was hearing them, and confirming them as best as I could, I was sharing them on social media.I usually know when something I have shared is going to get a welcome response and I always know when something is going to blow up the internet and my pages. One of the things I was told today...the COUPON policy....is currently blowing things up.I can keep the information to myself.  There have been things I was told that I had to hold back on for short periods of time because it needed to be done that way...then shared as I do.  Gosh, that is so hard...you have no idea.  That happens thankfully, rarely.  Usually, when I hear, You hear. And this information about a coupon policy is something that should be shared.Because if you think that Bath and Body Works is going to do some sort of press release to tell us ALL that they want US to know...( and don't want us to know ) you will be waiting a VERY LONG TIME!That isn't how they do things.  Every thought of every motion that they do is done with US in mind.  Of course, their bottom line is tucked into the equation somewhere...I know that as you know that.  But when I think of all that I know of, I know that they are thinking long term and with us...their shoppers of this brand in mind.Stop rolling your eyes... ( haha) I know.  And no I didn't drink the kool-aide...  I'm drinking tea currently.  And spillin' the tea too!Anywho.  Today's comment regarding coupons.  Grace Periods...and how the POS systems are going to work.Today I was told that beginning February 24th,  Bath and Body Works stores will no longer be offering a three (3) day grace period on expired coupons. So what is that "grace period?"A hundred years ago...some days it feels like that...trust me, Years ago when I was shopping at Bath and Body Works stores I was told in-store by sales associates that the company had a THREE DAY POLICY regarding their coupon use.  We could use them Three days before they come into effect and Three days after they have expired.  It was mentioned more regarding the bounce back ( put into your bag at checkout ) coupons.  Then it seemed to extend to the mailer coupon book coupons.  And eventually the email coupons. As a loyal shopper, this was great news if you forgot to use a coupon up within the time-frame listed.  I had no problems using my coupons up in the said time-frame.  I shop, a lot. And honestly, 30 days is plenty of time to get to a store and shop at least once.  Watching everything around me as I shopped I noticed that I wasn't the only shopper that was reminded of this and I later came to find out that reminding customers of this offering HELPED the store meet their daily sales goals. Sort of a win/win.  The customer didn't miss out on using that coupon that they had and the store extended a guarantee the customer didn't leave empty-handed.I found it odd that the coupon had an expiration date on it...the mailer coupons and the bounce-back coupons...and those dates are usually 30 days yet they were giving you another 3 days???Email coupons usually have a much shorter time because I think they are dated to correspond with the timing of their promotions.  So why add 3 more days?  I know when I shop at other stores when my clipped coupons expire, they are no longer usable.  The registers reject them.  They get tossed into the trash.  So why should I expect more from this store?Sales associates had told me a few times that it wasn't a true policy that they were offering but more of a "courtesy" for the customer.A courtesy that perhaps the company now thinks has been taken advantage of and would eventually need changing.Social media has a way of shining a light on problems and with all of the shares of the " extended grace period coupon usage " when purchases were shared with the note to use the grace period and you too can have it for this price...it became a speeding train about to derail the tracks.I noticed over the past year or so the stores in my area have stopped taking any and all expired coupons.  Nothing mailer, email, nor bounce back coupons would be accepted.  They would say that the register refused to take them.A sales associate admitted to me after the customer at the other register next to me left in a huff after " not getting the grace period" that the registers don't do that...the manager told her not to accept them and tell the customer that. Oye.Don't fib to us...the truth comes out eventually and it makes it worse.Personally, I don't "three day grace period shop using an expired coupon" because they were expired dates...I know that so it is what it is, I am not going to hassle the girl who is the face of the brand, she has enough to deal with.  That, and I still had a few survey coupons from way back so I am always ( while I have my last few) covered. And if I don't have a coupon, I usually don't shop. What I am hearing since my posting of this information is this:Plenty of stores never did grace periods so it doesn't affect them anyway. The POS ( point of sale - register ) will not allow them now to scan the coupons to extend it so they can't.There will be another $10 off coupon that will come out soon and it will be good until the 21st and that will be the last coupon that the grace period works on.I know you are unhappy about all of this.  I had to share it because I like keeping us all in the know when it comes to spending our hard-earned money and saving all we can.  I am a shopper just like you and I am not a big fan of change too BUT I like knowing what to expect to prepare myself. Take this knowledge and plan your sales accordingly. What I don't expect of you is to kill the messenger.  I see it starting with a few comments and, well, please don't.Please stop with the...She's NOT B&BW. I don't believe her, blah blah blah... You are correct.  I am not.  You sit there and wait for them to tell you.  The rest of us will be shopping and having fun.

Bath & Body Works | Strawberry Poundcake Hand Soap Trademark Is Found And The Crowd Goes Wild!!!

I have heard about a few new fragrances coming out at Bath and Body Works so I went to the trademark page to see if there have been any updates in names.  If you remember one of the names I mentioned last year was Suntan as BODY CARE!!  If and When we will see such a product remains to be seen.  But with the way they have been taking our love of Home Fragrances and transforming them into Body Care lately, I bet we will see it soon.I did see the Strawberry Pound Cake grouping of three trademarks posted and didn't pay too much attention...to all of them.  So while I was looking for new, I re-read the Strawberry Pound Cake trademarks and saw Hand Sanitizer and Anti-bacterial skin soaps.  AH HA!  Hand Soaps. We have Pocketbacs yet no soap.So I was thinking about all of the Strawberry Pound Cake forms I have purchased and thought that I have not yet seen a soap!  Did I miss it?I mentioned in my earlier posts when I shared that we will have this Sweet On You Collection and Strawberry Pound Cake as a scent in the collection that they missed out on making Hand Soaps and Candles with Matching Labels!  By the way the font is shown on the packaging differently ( in all caps ) than the Confetti Cake Pop and the Margarita Cupcake it leads me to think this scent will remain when the others leave. Could it be?  Will there finally be an "on the money" like the body care is fragrance Hand Soap that doesn't smell like strawberry plastic?  And please could it have the same packaging?  If you're listening...and reading this gods of the bath and of the body, please make plenty.  You have created Strawberry Pound Cake Monsters out of us with your body care and the hand soaps, like the hand creams and pocketbacs, will sell out fast.  And if you want to add in the Confetti Cake Pop and Margarita Cupcake Hand Soaps too, we won't say no.

Bath & Body Works | My Current Collection Of Hand Sanitizers and Pocketbac Holders - February 9, 2020

With so much talk about Hand Sanitizers lately, I took some time to gather up some of what I have. Here is a peek at the Bath and Body Works pocketbac holders I currently have in my collection.  I think I may have more.  I know I have been selling off some of my extra things to de-stash a bit, so I am thinking I may have missed a container when I counted.  If I find more I will add them in at the end of the posting and mark it UPDATED.These still have tags on them because when I find something I know I will want more of, I grab a few extra.  This way if I need it and it is long gone from stores I have it.  If I chose to sell it, the price is still on it. Some extras to share.  Two sizes of the stuffed bears they offered at holiday, and the smaller stuffed penguin size.  The smaller size holds a travel size body care product.  The larger cost $25 and the smaller cost $10.I think I will go through the larger storage totes and get a few photos of the accessories I have collected, in prep for another de-stash sale.  When I see these things in stores I grab them for gift giving for the year.  What isn't gifted ends up collected and while it is fun to save certain things to archive, not everything needs to be saved.  Right? Here is how I store my pocketbacs.  Michael's Craft Store Photo Boxes. They are inexpensive when on sale and stack perfectly on my closet shelf and are made of heavy-duty cardboard making them very long-lasting.  I store my extra cosmetics in the same boxes and certain times of the year you can find really pretty feminine printed boxes.I also use these boxes to gift body care, hand soaps, wallflowers with a candle.  I stand the lid up in the back of the box, add shredded paper, the in the items to gift and wrap it up in cellophane with a big bow.The older theme Pocketbac holders that I have that aren't the regular holders.  I have 104 assorted colors of the older style, regular holders left. I ended up with so many of those ( like what is happening now with the new style-plain holders )  when your order at check-out isn't quite $30 and you need a $1 item to push it over so you can use a coupon.I miss the cheaper accessories they had in stores...nail trimmers, nail files, hand cream holders.  Those little go-to impulse buys that you rarely need, but always want.  They stopped selling those items I think because people would buy a 50 cent nail file to get a free item coupon product with ANY purchase.Years ago when I shared a photo on my blog and on social media of all of this style pocketbac holder...and refills I received plenty of insults for the 1,000+ collection had.  When I heard that the bottle was changing, I sold off all of my holders with price tags and kept but a few. I regret not keeping the hula dancer and the mermaid holders.  They were a bit nicer with more detail than the current mermaids I have seen. And the batteries in these older holders still light up.Some, not all, of my older favorite pocketbacs.  I think my count on the older version is 184+.  As the hand sanitizer gets older the formula thins out a bit which never bothered me or collectors. I know that when I open a new bottle, it smells great and I use it.    When I collected these, I collected all of the scents in the collection.  When I de-stashed and sold them, it was the full collection.  That is why you see some labels are missing. When they did the state labels, I was able then to call stores in those states to have them sent to me.  A bit costly with shipping and minimum order requirements but when you want to collect you do what it takes.

Bath & Body Works | A Hand Sanitizer Trip Down Memory Lane Showcasing Pricing Throughout The Years From 2009 Until 2020

After my recent post regarding Bath and Body Works Hand Sanitizers and the reports of their selling out in stores, I wanted to take an inventory of what I had stashed in my collection.  I recently did a de-stash sale on Mercari/Depop where I sold them off for less than $1 each and I couldn't remember just how many I had.Starting to look into those refills had me wondering about my little (big) box of New Pocketbac Holders.  Many hours later I saw just how much I love these little bottles.  I will share photos of those holders I have remaining but first I wanted to talk about the sticker pricing on these little bottles of scented sanitizers. So I began with the older design bottles I still have. I loved this triangular-shaped bottle because it felt a bit more flat to me.  You could toss it in your purse, or your pocket and it just sort of "fit" well and didn't protrude too much.  And you could twist off the lid to refill it if you wanted. One of my oldest bottle dates is 2009.  I know you are thinking, "what the heck?"  Well, my life of wanting to archive everything seems to drive me down this path of keeping at least one of those things that for a time, interests me.  Bath and Body Works interests me...in case you haven't noticed.  So in my counting and organizing, I grabbed randomly, one of each of the years up to the change in bottle designs to share the price stickers on them. When something becomes a habit, you tend to forget some of the details... duh, hence the reason for archiving... and I couldn't really remember the pricing on the older bottles.  I know they were sold and I purchased mine on the Promo of 5 for $5...but for some reason I thought the stickers may have been $1.00 or less.Color me surprised when I saw the $1.50 and $1.75 pricing.  From 2009 until 2012, the price on the bottles was $1.50.  Beginning in 2013 until the summer of 2015, the price remained $1.75.  If you recall, the summer of 2015...sometime around SAS time, June or July...I think it was July, Bath and Body Works announced the change in bottle designs as coming soon.  I remember that the fall season of 2014 fellow blogger/vlogger Kelley shared a glimpse of this new bottle design from a store near her that was testing it out.  When we didn't see it hit at Christmas of 2014, I thought it failed.  It didn't.Sure enough, in the spring of 2015, I saw it mentioned on in-store paperwork as coming.  I remember the first New Design Holder that was shown was a piglet with twisty legs.   I remember there was an Americana Fourth of July Pocketbac as the first one to release and I remember going crazy to find it.This new style had a rounder, larger feel to it, you couldn't refill it easily if you wanted but the design area was bigger making the sticker easier to see. When the new pocketbacs arrived in 2015 they were priced at $1.75.  But that wasn't the only price they were.   While doing my organizing I was reminded, and surprised, of some of the refills pricing I found that came in at $2.00 a bottle.   I think there was a bit of push-back then over the price and the remainder of the refills stayed at $1.75 until December of 2019.  Beginning in 2020, we saw an increase in pricing to $1.95.  The Daydream Hand Sanitizer shown is stamped 2019 with the increased $1.95 pricing reflected when it released in my store in 2020.  I look forward to seeing what new hand sanitizers Bath and Body Works will release this year, and at what price they will come out with.  I am glad they haven't changed the bottle style yet.  It was a pain in the neck and not the neck if you know what I mean having thousands of bottles and holders only to need to start buying something new in 2015.  And yes, I said thousands.  In my next post, I will share some of the holders I have left and this walk down memory lane made me smile at seeing some of the older designs.  I am not going to photograph all of the refills I have left...because...cough, cough, there are way too many. I know, I know. When I find a design of a the holder I like, I tend to buy at least three.  Some to keep, some to give.  And some to replace when strangers take them off of my purse.  With the increasing pricing on these holders and the increasing size, they are now becoming, I am selective over which I buy multiples of.  Which could be a good thing, as my stash is colorfully large.

Bath & Body Works | With An Increased Demand For Hand Sanitizers Is Met with Empty Shelves And Higher Pricing During A Deadly Coronavirus - Who Will Inevitably Be Cleaning Up?

Early yesterday morning I heard a few things I made note of to share. Some new Aromatherapy fragrances that were coming out soon, more new Easter Body Care items we will see...and the upcoming changing price beginning today of one of my favorite things to buy in Bath and Body Works stores.  Pocketbacs. The news was met with a bit of grumble...but the day went on.  I later shared why we see this happening, and today it was revealed in stores and online. At the beginning of the year, it became quite noticeable that Bath and Body Works were raising prices on EVERYTHING.  From Body Care products to Home Fragrance; nothing was missed on the old markup sheet.  Consumers like myself were miffed. How could we not be?  Granted, yes, business is business and we all see those price raises everywhere business is conducted.  Two cents here and there on bread and milk...a dime a gallon for gas.  Yes, we know. Those are the staples of life.  But when there are remarkable increases to our luxury, self-indulgent items...we start to question "do we need these?" and "are we willing to pay?"They know us though, don't they?  They know like the bread and milk...fifty cents here and there stuck onto the retail sticker pricing will slide past the casual shopper of these goods.  All while us seasoned shoppers grumble and moan begrudging the want of the new.You know a few things about my love for certain things they offer.  Give me the adorable sticker on anything and I am there checking it out and stuffing it into a blue mesh bag to take home.  Hand soap and pocketbacs are my weakness.  I am not a casual shopper of those...hence the hundreds of each taking up space in my cabinets and on my shelves.Pump Hand Soap?  You can grab a HUGE bottle of any scent at Walmart for way less than the $8.50 sticker price for one 8 ounce bottle on the shelf in Bath and Body Works.  Hit up a Dollar store and you can buy 8!!!  with change. And don't get me started on Hand Sanitizer.  Lord, the cutesy stickers on the front of the bottles got me...I dare not even say how many times...but this new, this is what we are going to charge for ONE OUNCE of 68% alcohol antiseptic with a minimal amount of fragrance and an adorable character sticker on the label is fixing that addiction. When I started shopping for them they were cheap.  So cheap you can grab the monthly selection of scents put out and never break the bank.  So, I did.  Then they went to 5 for $5 sale pricing.  Okay, okay.  I can now get 30 bottles for $20 with my survey coupon. Fast forward to the new bottle design, raised pricing and I am still getting them now 5/$6.  Not as many...but my favorites.  Truth be told, this past holiday season I cut back drastically only grabbing maybe one of each of my favorite scents.  Certainly not all of the scents available. Here comes the new pricing.  5/$7 Wait. What??    Hey, B, you must be drinking these little alcohol-filled bottles with this new price thinking.  You're Drunk, go home. But the purchases are still happening. Nope. They aren't drinking it...we must be for buying them?Sticker priced now $1.95 each my husband looked at me and asked if all of the prices went up in store because this is crazy. In all of the years, I have shopped here, which is a very long time now, he's never mentioned price to me at all.  I sadly informed him, yes and I got the look.  Girls...you know the look.  Not the "you're not buying that" look, because then he would get "A" look.  His was more of a head-shaking there goes good money look. And he is not wrong. So when I heard that the Sale pricing was ending and each pocketbac will cost the sticker $1.95 price I thought I better share that news.  Then I also heard that there will be limits on how many you can buy in stores and online.  In-store was set at 20 and Online was one bundle of five.I haven't checked out retail stores stock of Purell and other brand name or generic hand sanitizers to compare them to this situation now at Bath and Body Works. I use hand sanitizer often throughout the day, every day and especially in winter during flu season. The number of people with sniffles and coughing is crazy, I only wish more people would sanitize their hands. Eww.Those who read the post of the price changes were not happy.  Of course not.  Who would be?  Here were are at the beginning of the year with bunches of newness coming out and the information I am sharing is not great, to say the least.I was asked why this was happening and a few friends confirmed for me the reasoning behind it.  Most I already assumed because we have seen this before with candles.  Supply...and...Demand.When the candle sale was decent enough for us to haul candles, they had a hard time meeting our demands so they would pull the sale pricing for a time until more stock would become available and hit the stores.  And then another sale would appear and we were back to shopping. What is happening now is the recent outbreak of Coronavirus has customers buying more pocketbac hand sanitizers and the spring collection is selling out with no backup yet to replace it.This caused the sale of the hand sanitizers to be pulled (hopefully only) until more stock arrives. The concerning thing about this is our willingness to purchase them at a higher price may end up costing us more money when the stock returns.Look at our current sale pricing now on candles. What will our sale price for sanitizers end up being? Will this lapse in available on-hand stock currently cause us, consumers, to seek out more reasonably priced products to fill those needs?  Time will tell.
